An oil on canvas, Christ in descent from the cross or entomb - Lot 244
An oil on canvas, Christ in descent from the cross or entombment. Probably cut from a larger canvas (too short on the stretcher). There is no indication on the back of the canvas. The canvas, like the painting, seems mid-19th century. An obvious search for aesthetics and a blurred background bring us closer to the Romantic spirit of this period. Dimensions: 38x46 cm. Early 20th-century frame: 47 x 54 cm.
