Kees van Urk (Leiden 1895-1976 Blaricum), Dutch painter, draughtsman and lithographer.
Co-founder with Théo van Doesburg of the De Sphinx club.
He is exhibited at the Dutch Print Museum and the Leiden Museum.
Here, an oil on panel, "maaien de Barchem" (the reapers of Barchem), undoubtedly done outdoors, the paste is thick and the line is lively. Here, we are directly confronted with the work of force, material and heat. The influence of Expressionism is clear; the cut-out trees and clouds place the painting very probably in the 30s/40s, influenced by Art Deco.
Panel size: 37 x 47 cm (Framed: 60x50 cm). The paint is in perfect condition.
