Oil on panel, 4-masted barque "DUNKERQUE" Cap-homier de la Cie ADB (Antoine Dominique BORDES), 63 x 42 cm framed, signed in pencil "Leon", wooden frame. Provenance: Personal collection of the Bordes family. Steel bulk carrier built by the Socété des Chantiers de Normandie in 1880 for the BORDES Company. 105 meters long. One of the two largest sailing ships in the world. Voyage from France to Chile on April 19, 1906, she distinguished herself by rescuing a Belgian school sailing ship, the COMTE DE SMET DE NAEYER. Demolished in 1924.
